Writing Lesson of the Month Network

...sharing thoughtful, mentor text-inspired lessons your students will love!

I am a third grade teacher and would like to do an exit ticket or journal entry from my math block using constructed responses. Since the push is for third to begin learning how to write constructed responses, I would like to find some for math. I have looked for books however, have not found any for the third grade level. I am not sure why or how to start. Can anyone help me please! Barb

I've been using the ACES constructed response from the Nevada Writing Fix web page. I do teach 4th grade, however, a few 3rd grade teachers grasped onto the format and used it with their students as well. It's a great tool to get them going...

Also - Wiki-Teacher has some lessons for constructed responses as well.

I'm not sure if you've hit these already, so just in case.
Thank you I will check them out. Barb

What math series do you use? We use Everyday Math, and it has some great writing prompts built into each lesson.
Thank you. We also use Everyday Math however, I have not seen constructive responses. Possibly I am not looking in the righ place. I will check it out. Thanks Barb
