Writing Lesson of the Month Network

...sharing thoughtful, mentor text-inspired lessons your students will love!

Will NNWP ever consider doing online classes? I use the website all through the year, and I would love to take some of the workshops... but I don't see a trip to Nevada in my future. :( Any hope of some of the workshops being offered through the internet?

Sounds like a great idea. I'd be interested, too.

It's so great that you ask for this. We started the WritingFix website and its companion inservice classes for our Northern Nevada teachers, and the world started checking in and using the website and classes' materials. There's only a small number of us, and we have such a huge demand from just our area, that we'd like to offer our classes outside of Nevada, but our capacity just isn't there yet. I do have a few instructors exploring different on-line environments. So stay tuned!
Oh, I agree. I hope NNWP will bring to us what we can't get to.
If a class isn't available, what about offering some resources for us to purchase?
Well, that's easy...At every class we offer in Northern Nevada, the participants get one of the NNWP's print guides. All those guides are for sale at the NNWP's website: http://www.unr.edu/educ/nnwp/publications.html

Sounds great!! I would be VERY interested!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!! I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and would LOVE to take an online workshop!!!
I would be thrilled if you offered an online class in the future. I hope you would open it up to non-US residents. I'm in Canada and have attended a few of the six trait training sessions down in Oregon so I would love an opportunity to further explore six trait writing with other educators. Thanks for thinking about this possibility!
I'm with Georgia Southern Writing Project. We would actually like to come visit your site, maybe during your summer institute! You're website is wonderful!

Hi Jennifer! You're welcome any time! It's actually our Advanced Summer Institute where we work on new projects that are going up on the website. We've a group of a dozen NNWP TCs this summer who have already RSVPed for the Advanced ISI in the fourth week of June. Indiana was supposed to come join us this summer, but they didn't get the grant from NWP they applied for.

I am in New Zealand and would be interested in an on-line class. I love using picture books in as many curriculum domains as possible and as mentor texts for writing. The Writing Fix website is one of my all-time favourites. A turn-around moment for my students and I was 'ranking' rather than 'rating' indicators of a trait and revising the lowest ranked. Thank you for this great 'ah hah!' moment.
I have purchased the resource "Going Deep with 6 Trait Language" and I have to say that I love it!!! I have taught a lesson from it while being observed by my principal and she thought the idea was fantastic, especially for the group I am working with! I would love to do an on-line course if it is offered!!!!
