Writing Lesson of the Month Network

...sharing thoughtful, mentor text-inspired lessons your students will love!

Here come the final prompts from 2012...just in time for 2013.  Happy New Year to you all!  How long do you think it'll take you to start writing 2013 on forms you sign without having to think about it?

Here come this week's prompts.

Monday: "Why did you think of that symbol?  Think of an item or symbol from every day life that could stand for your mother, father, spouse, best friend, or other person who is important to you. Write about why that symbol stands for that person."

Tuesday: "How long until you realized you had no talent or patience for this?  Tell the story (true or fiction) of trying to learn a new talent or hobby that you only pursued briefly."

Wednesday: "Which one makes the top of your list and why?  In a piece of writing, describe six things you'll never be caught doing, or six things you'll never do again."

Thursday: "How does that particular memory truly represent him/her?  Write down a favorite memory you associate with someone long gone, but choose a memory that this person would be proud to know is one you choose to remember him/her with."

Friday: "What were they hiding?  Write about someone who wore a little too much make-up."

Saturday: "What does a scream tell you?  Write about a time you were with someone who screamed."

Have a great week, writing friends.
