Writing Lesson of the Month Network
...sharing thoughtful, mentor text-inspired lessons your students will love!
Heading to a family reunion this weekend...won't be home until Monday noon, so I am posting this week's topic early. If any of this week's prompts don't appeal to you, the new link to visit/bookmark is now: http://corbettharrison.com/writers_notebooks.html#topics
Monday: "Did they fold the end of the toilet paper? Write about the last, first, or worst time you stayed in a hotel."
Tuesday: "Why are you keeping that thing? Open up or think about the 'miscellaneous stuff drawer' in your kitchen or in your desk. Take out one item that sparks a positive memory and write about it."
Wednesday: "Why do you even remember that? Think of a trivial fact you know. Center a piece of writing around it."
Thursday: "Why were they interesting? Write about a person you know who has the most interesting eyes, teeth, hair, nose, OR ears."
Friday: "Would it be the same if you went away? Write about something that disappeared so casually that you hardly noticed it was gone."
Saturday: "What does your foot taste like anyway? Write about the last time you said something that you almost immediately wished you hadn't."
Have a great week.

I will ask each student to bring an item from home that they have no idea or clue as to why they still have it. Then I will create a junk drawer for each class and use it as a visual to help my students complete this writing prompt. I just might be able to bring one of my junk drawers from my kitchen. Just might help me purge things quicker.
