Writing Lesson of the Month Network

...sharing thoughtful, mentor text-inspired lessons your students will love!

In a well-functioning writer's workshop, students are trained competently serve as responders to each other as they prepare to move from the composing stage to the revision stage.  It is not an easy task to teach students to serve as good responders, but diligence and thoughtful teaching tools can make this element of a Writing Workshop (like the one described in Ralph Fletcher and JoAnn Portalupi's book) a reality.

At WritingFix's Response Resource Exchange Homepage, our page host--Campbell Valle--invites teachers from around the world to share any original tools or ideas they've created as they attempted to build functioning student response groups.

One original tool that we hope writer's workshop-running teachers will share with us is a tool that helps their student writers record reactions to one another's writing so they can engage in a meaningful conversation after reading one another's drafts.  Original checklists or response sheets serve this purpose, but certainly there are other creative tools out there that teachers are proud of.  If you have an original tool (or an original adaptation), we hope you'll consider sharing it by posting it as an attachment in the "Reply to this" box below.

If we end up moving the tool you share over to the WritingFix website, we will send you a complimentary NNWP Print Guides as our way of saying thanks for sharing and helping us build a repository of response group-building tools.

To post your lesson, you must join our "Deeper with Blooms" group at the ning.  If you do not see the "Reply to This" box below this post, it is because you are not yet a member of this exchange group.  To become a member, simply look for the "+Join Deeper with Blooms" link in the upper right portion of this screen.  Click on that and you'll be able to post!

Thanks for sharing!  This is a great opportunity to become a genuine part of the WritingFix website!
