Writing Lesson of the Month Network

...sharing thoughtful, mentor text-inspired lessons your students will love!

We believe in the power of having lots of student samples available for your students to discuss.  If a student sample is thoughtfully discussed before drafting, before response group time, before revision, or before publishing, your students' own writing will improve.  At WritingFix, we believe this to be more than just a little bit true.

To continue growing our Expository Writing Resource Homepage, we are hoping that teachers will begin sharing fresh and engaging expository samples from their own classrooms here!  These samples can be inspired by books (like Gretchen Bernabei's awesome lesson collection, Reviving the Essay: How to Teach Structure without Formula), or they can be original lessons/prompts from your own lesson vault.

Our intention is to create a storehouse of engaging expository student samples that any teacher can download, print, and use a discussion tool when they are teaching or reviewing expository writing.  We don't want "robot talk" essays; we want really fresh perspectives and voice that would inspire students to eventually leave the safety (and dryness) of hamburger paragraphs, Step-up-to-Writing formulas, and Jane Schaefer essay structures.

So...if you have this type of sample from a student, and that student is interested in being both featured at our internationally-recognized website and discussed in classrooms across the globe, please post it in the "Reply to This" box below.  If you do not see a "Reply to This" box below, it is because you are not yet a member of this posting group.  To join this group, simply click the "+Online Student Publishing" link in the upper right-hand corner of this page; once you've joined, look for the "Reply to This" box below.

If we end up moving your students' expository sample from this posting page to the Expository Resource Page at WritingFix, we will send your student a certificate and we will send you a complimentary copy of one of the NNWP Print Resources for your classroom.

We thank you in advance for inspiring fresh expository writing from your student writers!
