Dear Flowery Diary,
Mom bought me a diary to write in because I was born today. HOORAY for ME! I love being a caterpillar! I hatched 5 minutes ago. I'm hungry. Time to eat my shell!

Sincerely,
Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
Today I went to school, and I'm getting teased by everyone. They kept calling me "big eyed monster." They call me that because I have spots on me that looks like eyes. I scared my brother with my spots. That's why I love my spots/eyes.

Sincerely,
Big Spotted Buttercup

P.S. They're just jealous because I have spots that look like eyes, and they don't. That's how I live!

Dear Flowery Diary,
Today I grew my chrysalis. Hooray for me! It's very stinky in here. I want to get OUT!

Sincerely,
Inside of a stinky chrysalis Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
Hooray for me! I came out of my stinky chrysalis, and I'm a beautiful Swallowtail Butterfly! Uh-oh, I hear my mom's car engine. Better hurry to school!

Sincerely,
Late for school Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
My brother is an Indian Leaf Butterfly, and he scared me because I thought he was a leaf, and he jumped out at me. I scared him too because my spots look like eyes, and he thought I was a monster.

Sincerely,
Scary Monster Buttercup

P.S. It's April Fool's Day!

Dear Flowery Diary,
IT'S POLLINATING TIME! HOORAY! I LOVE pollinating. One time, my mom found a buttercup flower while pollinating. She said it was beautiful, and that's how I got my name. Dad fell in a tulip one time. "Time to go Buttercup." Oops, I have to go. Mom's calling.

Sincerely,
Pollen covered Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
While pollinating, I used my proboscis to suck up sweet nectar. My proboscis is like a straw that sucks up food.

Sincerely,
Nectar Lover Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
Mom told me to go to the big maple tree at Pollinate Street. So I went there, and there was tree sap everywhere. Mom told me to use my proboscis to taste it. It was DELICIOUS! After I tasted it, she told me that not ALL butterflies eat nectar. I saw a strawberry that someone just dropped so I tasted it. It was the sweetest thing ever!

Sincerely,
Strawberry Lover Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
Today at school, we learned that butterflies migrate. Migrate means like moving out of a place, like my friend Sally, a Monarch butterfly.

Sincerely,
Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
I'm so mad! This girl named Rosy used mimicry, and she is copying me! I'm sorry that my hand writing is hard and dark. I'm just so mad at Rosy! By the way, mimicry means when something looks like something else!

Sincerely,
Annoyed at Rosy Buttercup

Dear Flowery Diary,
I'm better from yesterday. Did you know that my great grandpa is a moth? I'm related to a moth!

Sincerely,
Moth/Butterfly Buttercup

P.S. The reason I have spots is because of Great Grandpa Lou!)

Dear Flowery Diary,
I'm sooooo upset. I used up ALL of the pages. This is my last page. I want to tell you something cool though. Some of my colors on my wings are scales! That's weird, a butterfly that has scales. Well, this is my last sentence. Bye!

Sincerely,
Buttercup
